School Management Committee:

The School Management Committee (SMC) of PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Kohand is a statutory body formed under the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. It plays a key role in ensuring participatory school governance, promoting accountability, and supporting holistic development of the institution.
The SMC at PM SHRI GSSS Kohand functions as a bridge among the school, parents, community, and local authorities, working collaboratively to improve the quality of education and overall school environment.

1. Community Participation

The SMC ensures active involvement of parents, teachers, community members, and local representatives in school planning and improvement.

2. Transparency and Accountability

Through regular meetings and monitoring, the Committee strengthens transparency in school operations, financial decisions, and academic progress.

3. Child-Centric Approach

The Committee focuses on ensuring that every enrolled child receives equitable, inclusive, and quality education in line with PM SHRI guidelines.

4. Planning and Monitoring

The SMC prepares a School Development Plan (SDP), monitors its implementation, and ensures optimal use of school grants and resources.

The Committee includes parents from all sections of society, with special attention to representation of girls, marginalized groups, and children with special needs.

1. Academic Monitoring

  • Track students’ learning outcomes and progress.

  • Support teachers in implementing innovative teaching methods.

  • Ensure regular attendance of students and reduce dropouts.

2. Preparation of the School Development Plan (SDP)

  • Identify school needs in infrastructure, academics, and welfare.

  • Prepare annual and multi-year development plans in accordance with PM SHRI objectives.

  • Recommend budget allocations and monitor their usage.

3. Ensuring a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment

  • Oversee safety measures such as clean drinking water, sanitation, boundary walls, and disaster management.

  • Promote gender-sensitive and inclusive practices.

  • Address issues related to child protection, bullying, and well-being.

4. Resource Management

  • Monitor utilization of school funds and grants.

  • Ensure procurement transparency and timely maintenance of facilities.

  • Support mobilization of resources from community and stakeholders when required.

5. Strengthening School–Community Relationship

  • Conduct awareness programs for parents on student learning, health, and discipline.

  • Promote community involvement in school activities, celebrations, and outreach programs.

  • Facilitate communication between school staff and parents.

6. Monitoring Staff Attendance and School Functioning

  • Keep a check on punctuality of teachers and service providers.

  • Observe curriculum implementation, co-curricular activities, and overall functioning of the school.

7. Encouraging Equity and Inclusion

  • Ensure enrollment and retention of all children, including girls, economically weaker students, and children with special needs.

  • Recommend support measures such as remedial classes, counseling, or scholarships.

8. Conducting Regular Meetings

  • Hold monthly or quarterly meetings to discuss issues, review progress, and plan upcoming activities.

  • Maintain meeting records, resolutions, and follow-up actions.

Protection of Children from Sexual Offences:

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 aims to safeguard children from sexual abuse, exploitation, and harassment. As per the guidelines of CBSE and the Ministry of Education, PM SHRI GSSS Kohand has constituted a POCSO Committee to ensure a safe and secure environment for all students.

  • To ensure the safety, security, and protection of every child in the school.

  • To create awareness among students about safe and unsafe behavior.

  • To prevent incidents of child abuse by ensuring timely reporting and action.

  • To provide support, counseling, and protection to affected students.

  • To ensure compliance with the POCSO Act, 2012 and related guidelines issued by the Government.

  • Monitor and address any complaint related to child safety or abuse.

  • Conduct awareness sessions on child protection and personal safety.

  • Handle complaints with confidentiality and sensitivity.

  • Maintain proper documentation and reporting of any incident as per legal requirements.

  • Provide immediate assistance and refer cases to appropriate authorities when required.

  • Ensure that school premises remain a safe space for all children.
